Meet the Players
Ashley Spittlehouse - Goalkeeper. Now been with the club for 8 years .Ex Shrewsbury Town Youth .A very consistent performer for us and widely recognised as one of the best goalkeepers in local football.
Tom Groves - DefenderlMidfield. Competitive at either full back or midfield, now in his second year .Appearances restricted in the early part of the season due to other commitments but hopefully once he is available full time he can push for a starting place.
Ollie Kesterton - Forward. Every other player in the squad feels for Ollie. A talented skilful forward he has been constantly plagued by injury of one sort or another, but has always done well for us when called upon. We all hope that he can get sorted because a fit injury free 011ie is an awesome player.
Dan Jones — Goalkeeper. Another excellent keeper who is happy to deputise for Ash when he is unavailable. Highly experience having played for years in Welsh Premier League. We are lucky to have such a keeper as cover.
Stewart Owens – Midfield. Now in his second season Stewart put in some good performances towards the end of last season in midfield and has been a regular starter this season. Quick, skilful and good on the ball, he brings a different dimension to the midfield. Hopefully he can contribute more goals this year.
Karl Jones - Defender. Karl moved up from the reserves towards the end of last season and performed well for us scoring a wonder goal on the last day of the season. Only young and still learning but he will be a great addition to this year’s squad, particularly as he can play in several positions.
Will Tarrel - Defender. The veteran of the squad who has been loyal to Hanwood since he was 17.Strong aggressive defender who loves to get forward .Is also useful in midfield or at Centre Forward
James Taylor - Defender. JT is the latest addition to the squad and has already put in some impressive performances at wing back . He is versatile and experienced, having played in Wales and in higher leagues in England. A great addition.
Steve Jenkins - Defender. Jenko is another that is currently troubled by injury, meaning that as yet he is unable to push for a regular starting slot. Nonetheless he has already made a couple of appearances as a substitute and never lets us down.
Jack Rogers—Midfield. Another new signing. Jack is clever, quick footed, and a great passer of the ball, so hopefully will be our play maker. Has not played for a couple of years but has previously played at a higher level for Pelsall Villa.
Gary Price-Defender. Now in his 7th season with the club. Like Ash ex Shrewsbury Youth, who also had a spell in Wales .Strong defender who is very powerful in the air so hopefully will get his fair share of goals from set pieces.
Tom Reynolds—Forward. A different type of striker to both Wayne and Ben. Very clever with a good first touch, Tom is very much a poacher and will always score his fair share of goals. Tom will always want to be top scorer and so this year this could be an interesting contest.
Dave Joyner — Defender. Returns to us from Wellington Amateurs .We already know what a great defender he is and are delighted to have him back
Ben Houlston - Forward. Another long serving club member .Powerful striker who not only scores goals but is a great target man ,with a great work ethic and attitude .Has already opened his goal account and with his hernia problems behind him I hope there is plenty more to come
Stephen Hawkesford—Midfield. Competitive and busy, he is great at breaking up the opposition play. Joins us from Wroxeter, but has also been a stalwart in the successful Intones Sunday team .Another great addition to the squad.
Wayne Edwards—Forward. Local boy Wayne has been a first tem regular for years now. Speedy, tricky with a great shot, he will be looking to bag plenty of goals this year. Troubles defenders with his pace and is also good at set pieces, where he often turns provider.
Sam Roberts — Wingback/Midfield. Local boy Sam scored for Hanwood on his 1st team debut at 15. Now hopefully he has overcome the serious knee problems that have held him back in the last couple of years. Another left footer who gives us balance. A good passer of the ball who will be looking to establish himself as a regular starter this season. Tells me he is much better than his dad.
Ollie Williams - Defender. This versatile left footer gives us great balance at either centre half or left wing back. Great to have him in the dressing room for his banter alone, the only problem being that he nominates himself for man of the match every game (before the kick off).
Ryan Edwards — Forward. Another local lad who has forced his way into the squad with some very good performances in the pre season friendlies. Like brother Wayne, he is quick, but another quality is that he is versatile and has already filled several positions this year.
