Consecration of Hanwood Churchyard Extension

Consecration of Hanwood Churchyard Extension

The Churchyard extension was consecrated on 18th September by Alistair, Bishop of Ludlow. We were granted fine weather on a showery day and a good number of the regular congregation and many of the Parish Council took part in the ceremony.

The proceedings were completed with a lunch served in the extension and it was good that so many stayed. Thanks Fran to you and your team for an excellent spead.

The extension means that for many, many years to come Hanwood residents will be able to be buried within the community and in a lovely spot near the banks of the Rea.

A churchyard which is still open for burials is very much a community asset and the Church Council is very grateful for the grant from the Parish Council which helps maintain it.
