Festival of Christian Faith

Have you ever noticed how much travelling there is in the Bible?  There is Israel's journey through the wilderness to the Promised Land, Joseph and Mary's journey to pay taxes in Bethlehem and the Apostle Paul's three great missionary journeys, to name a few.

People have always been prepared to travel seeking God.  Moses climbed Mount Sinai.  Our Lord took three of His disciples up the Mount of Transfiguration.  Down the ages pilgrims have travelled hundreds of miles to a holy place.  These are places where God's holy, loving and powerful presence has been experienced.  They are places where heaven and earth seem to intersect and people seeking God are prepared to travel to them.

As you know 2013 is going to be a special year for our Deanery.  God has promised us a year of rich spiritual blessing for ourselves as individuals and our churches and communities.  All of us will experience more of God in our lives and our churches will grow as people engage or re-engage in their relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

But there are conditions.  One of them is that we engage in our Festival as individuals and churches.  We are planning events in which we are expecting the Deanery to come together in great numbers in one place.  This will mean travelling to other parts of the Deanery.  Like a pilgrimage it will mean seeking God in a different place.  Like the Israelites of old it will mean receiving the blessing and inspiration which comes from meeting with God together in larger than usual numbers.

Our big events will include:

10.30 am Sunday 6th January  - Epiphany

Deanery Eucharist at St. George's, Pontesbury with Bishop Alistair.

Easter to Pentecost

Weekly meetings for inspiring worship and teaching with Bishop Alistair.

- Wednesdays 10, 17, 24 April and 8 May

Pentecost Praise

We will be open-air and open to the Holy Spirit.

Sunday December 1st - Advent Sunday

The climax of the Festival and Confirmation at St. Michael's, Chirbury

Please don't forget our meetings for prayer - Festival Prayer:

Tuesday 4th December   7.30 pm Marton Church

Also being planned: Alpha course; other combined prayer events.
