Food Bank

St Thomas’ Church helps support the Shrewsbury Food Bank.  There is a box in Hanwood church if you wish to donate items. No fresh or homemade items are accepted. Please donate tinned or dried goods.

Shrewsbury Food Bank is run by a group of volunteers who seek to help those in times of genuine hardship by addressing their most basic of needs - food.  So they organise and distribute parcels of donated food to individuals and families every week.

What is not so well known is that other help is available as well:

Food bank PLUS combines Shrewsbury Food Bank, Barnabas Money Advice and 360 Platform for Life in one service that goes beyond just meeting the basic need to eat but offers help and encouragement to people as they take steps forward into a better future.

PLUS… Barnabas Money Advice provides a free, unconditional, face to face, personal debt advice service.

PLUS… 360 Journey to Work gives those seeking to enter the workplace in a paid or voluntary capacity,                     self-confidence and the tools to engage in the workplace effectively.

PLUS… 360 Journey to Health helps clients build the skills and confidence to take positive steps towards a healthier lifestyle.

So Food Bank PLUS helps people beyond the short term fix and empowers them to help themselves.
